Cent College is approximately 1 km away from Bosphorus seaside. It is seated on the lovely hillside of our campus, with its area of 21.000m2 in Salcikir Street No:94, in Tarabya. There are more than 50 different kinds of trees in our garden. Our school started to give education with its kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and high school, in the academic year 1991-1992. As our founder's last name is CENT, this name has been given to our school. And also, Cent was the name of an old Turkish Capital City in the Central Asia. Our social facility, just above our school, completed in 2005, has been serving for our students, their parents and our graduates with its semi-olympic pool, tennis courts, fitness centre, sauna and restaurants. Our school has been giving education in order to bring up the enlightened individual of 21th century who is liberal, acts according to his/her own thoughts, believes in art and science, takes care of his/her culture and mother language and also can speak a foreign language, is familiar to all the innovations that technology brings, is goer, cultured and democratic. MISSION OF CENT SCHOOLS Originality At Cent Schools, our children firstly learn to think. Because thinking is the medium of making information ready to use. Information is the raw material of thinking. Our students should look to every condition, thought and information from different angles and should question them all without thinking as they are taboos. Information could be dangerous only if healthy ways of thinking are not used. Intelligence Today there are a lot of definitions of intelligence. For some people it is the "ability to be harmonized with the facts" and for some others it is "a person's ability of implication, perception and argumentation". The definitions differ but the reality is that the intelligence can be developed. One of the basic missions of Cent Schools is to develop our children's intelligence as much as we can. But no matter how much a person is intelligent, it is not important if how to use it is not known. Moreover it is a known reality that intelligence can be seperated into different sections. In our school, multi-intelligence method is used.
Emotion Unfortunately, the century we are in everything is engaged with technology and because of that the importance of our emotion decreases. But scientific findings show that emotional intelligence (EQ) is the basic quality that a person should have. To be positive and to share these feelings with other people is the primary rule for a person to be happy.
At Cent Schools art lessons are not given just because they are obligatory, a poem is not just to memorize. Cent School's mission is to bring up individuals whose emotional quality is developed and who is beneficial to humanity. In our programme that we plan to last 2 weeks in summer period, guest students will stay at Cent Schools' students' and their parents' houses. They will enjoy sports activities in our campus while they discover Istanbul's historical and touristic places. Once in a week (on Sundays) they will spend all their time with the family they are staying with.
